ROLE: Design Associate
Junior–Intermediate Level | Full-Time

Cristi Holcombe Interiors is seeking a Design Associate to support our senior design team throughout all phases of residential interior design projects. This role will collaborate closely with senior designers on design concepts, sourcing, client and vendor communication, and project coordination to help ensure projects remain organized and on schedule.

Responsibilities include sourcing furniture, finishes, and other design elements; assisting with presentations and client selections; communicating with vendors; and maintaining accurate documentation related to budgets, estimates, selections, orders, and project details.

The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in CAD, SketchUp, Google Slides, Sheets and Docs, and Microsoft Excel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Interior Design, design school or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of industry experience in residential or commercial design.
  • Flexible, self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Must be able to prioritize, set, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess strong time management and time tracking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, and sometimes high-pressure, environment.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback in a positive manner.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to creatively collaborate and introduce new interior design ideas and concepts with clients and team members.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand building plans and elevations.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD, Sketchup, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Google: Slides/Sheets/Docs, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Reside locally and have/maintain an automobile to be able to travel to project sites, vendor locations, and to be able to transport samples, supplies, accessories, etc.
  • Must have an interior design portfolio (i.e. design boards, renderings, space plans, and/or rooms you have designed; even if they are of your personal home or virtual spaces.)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram
  • Willingness to assist and perform tasks across a broad spectrum within our organization (e.g. everything from taking the trash out to assisting with client project design boards)
  • QuickBooks online plus, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Developing and managing multiple internal and external project schedules/timelines.
  • Creating design plans under supervision of Designer, Senior Designer and/or Principal Designer.
    • Design selection(s) sourcing, on-line and in person, from our preferred vendors.
    • Execute visually pleasing and well-organized design boards in Google Slides.
  • Communicating (and maintain positive relationships) with team members, clients and trade partners/vendors both verbally and in writing.
  • Executing CAD/SketchUp drawings for projects (detailed interior elevations, floor plans and furniture layouts).
  • Samples: order/pick-up and organizing for projects and for resource library.
  • Client consultations with a team.
  • Creating and managing detailed project budgets & estimates in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Gather information from multiple vendors to correctly calculate window treatment and wallcovering price estimates.
  • Creating client estimates and invoices in Quickbooks Online.
  • Unpack, check and receive inventory.
